From Gr. τ ε φ ρ to “ash” or τ ε φ ρ ο ς “Grey ash”, in Geology ” “All solid and liquid materials from magma and rocks of the volcanic chimney, driven by gases and ejected with them during volcanic eruptions” (Ford.-Raoult Geol. 1980).
